One Down, 2 to Go Texas to California

My family’s vacay is coming to an end. Six blissful weeks of no schedules or pressing appointments, with the biggest decision we have had to make is whether to go to the beach or the pool. Life has been grand, filled with sunshine, perfect water temperature, frozen yogurts, decadent piña coladas, old friends, and the best home cooking ever! Our dogs are spoiled, the children’s brains are numb from unlimited access to computers and tablets, and I swear I’ve gained 10lbs! Alas the Hero has to go back to work so it’s time to hit the road once more, and  return to some sort of normalcy and discipline.

Day 1 of 3 Houston to Fort Stockton, Texas

First off, praise and thanks to God for our safe arrival at overnight stop one! God is good!

Miles Traveled: about 500 and we’re still in TX!

Kid Tantrums: 0

Dog Tantrums: 3 hours worth (thanks a lot thunder shirt)

Cop Stops: 0

Car Issues: 0

Cataclysmic Events: 1/2 (almost got run off the road by a freight truck)

Best Stop: Bill’s BBQ (best Texas Bbq baked potato ever! In case you don’t know about this deliciousness, it’s a monster potato loaded with chopped brisket, BBQ sauce, shredded cheese, sour cream and butter! Worth every single calorie!)

at Bill’s BBQ Kerrville, TX Amazing food and Hospitality

Lesson Learned: I have the bladder of a 2yr old (thank you childbirth)

Avoided: News Radio Stations that made any mention of our current political situation

Bonus: Sirius/XM Radio NPR is awesomely entertaining. It’s like Discovery Channel for your radio! Did you know basketball was played for a DECADE before someone thought to put a hole at the bottom of the net?

Double Bonus: Sirius/XM Radio’s Catholic Channel had a great discussion on how to handle the problem of priest shortages that included debate on married priests. Great discussion that I intend to elaborate on later….

Anyone else have any good radio suggestions or pet travel tips? Be sure to share them in the comments below. Check back tomorrow for another update!!!
